Sometimes I think what the heck? We have quite the gene pool in our family. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes...the list could go on but those are the biggies. We did get good news today, my Mom ,Marleen, had some weird white bumps on her tongue that the dentist discovered. It's leukoplakia. We just got word that the bumps are benign so we can rest easier! We live in such a fast paced world, that we want everything NOW or even 5 minutes ago. Same with biopsy results...you would think they could figure out a way to make the finding out process go faster. A week is just too dang long.
Moving on...we have our trip planned for Utah in July and boy are we excited! I talked with my sister Heidi today, and we are planning some of the stuff we want to do. Hunter said he wanted to ski...with a smile...he does know it's summer, but thought it would be nice. He also wants to see his old buddy Chase (those were the two things he said) We wanted to go hiking in a slot canyon, but alas it will be too hot. 120* doesn't sound like a ton of fun to me. I want to hike, walk, canoe, picnic, shop, eat, swim, Temple Square (you've got to do Temple Square! and see whatever movie they are showing)hang out...what else? What else am I missing?
Hunter has scout camp this week. I attended scout camp for the past couple of years as the den mother. I was pretty happy to NOT have to go this year (I'm no longer den mom and I have a baby so they took pity on me :). Hunter was telling me about the REALLY bad magician they had yesterday, he couldn't do a couple tricks all together, messed up a few others...his name was Nitro the Magician! Thankfully, he got into his friend Thomas' group from another ward. We only have 1 boy Hunter's age in our ward...and he wasn't going! Bummer. All in all though... good times.
Hayden kind of got the shaft yesterday. He wanted to go swimming all day long. Hannah and Hunter both went to the Moran's to swim. We tried to call his friend to come over, but we never connected...and quite frankly I was pooped from running people all over...so I told him after all was settled I'd take him to the pool. Hope, Hayden and I headed to Lifetime at 7. Hope had a late afternoon nap and I let her sleep, so she was good to go. We had a great time on our "special time" as Hayden called it. He is becoming quite the little fish. Hannah had special time with her Daddy and ran 1 mile for the first time. It doesn't take much to keep the kiddies happy, but everybody needs a little "special time" every once in a while.

yay on mom's news. i'm so relieved, but also still upset about the scare. love the special time & glad that haydey is mr. swimmer. tell him he can go swimming any time at my house, when he comes.
I'm so glad everything is okay with your Mom and all is well. What a blessing modern medicine is! I'm excited you get to go to Utah! We're heading up there in July also and I'm pumped. Glad you had fun swimming with the kids. That's about all you can do in the Texas Summer heat!
so happy to hear the good news about your mama. also happy to know that her name isn't ned. why do y'all call her ned? just wondering. glad you got to miss day camp this year! i've been in cubs for 2 1/2 years now. i went the 1st year, skipped last year because mason was a baby, and miraculously, they didn't ask me this year. they must have been able to tell i was going to say NO! i hate day camp!!! also, we have a gazillion boys and most of them had a parent go for at least one day. special time is so important to the kids. i have to remember that maya needs 100% of my attention sometimes. it makes a big difference. i'm jealous of your utah trip! we'd love a visit, but don't have any family there now...oh well!
natalie - i commented somewhere that my mom's first name really is nedra. she goes by her middle name, Marleen. i don't know why we call her that, just cause she's fun & we can, i guess.
that is so great about your mom! talk about resting easier. and the utah trip sounds like so much fun. i'm hoping to go up in july also. how great about the "special time" with hayden...sort of a mommmy/son date with hope along for the ride, huh? that's fun...those are the little things he'll remember.
Let us know and we'll get together. Hopefully we'll still be around. And it just snowed in Park City last week so Hunter isn't too far off that goal of skiing too! We have "kid dates" and we try to do them on the date of their birthday each month so we can keep track, alternating with mom / dad. They love the attention since we're split between the six of them. Is it getting h o t there?? I've been to that blasted scout camp twice too. They didn't care if I had a baby with me-no parents would go.
I'm ready for a Utah trip. I really need a hair cut. My parents live on south temple just east of temple square. We always hit the Roof. It's great when we visit because we can walk every where. Have you been to Ruth's up Immigration Canyon? It's a fun little place to eat. I also like Red Rock Brewing Co. Glad you had fun with the kiddo's and so glad your mom is okay.
I think you've got all the fun things down for Utah! Anything outdoors this time of year! Nate shows me more and more fun places to go whenever we get the chance.. btw - I'm adding your blog on my blog.. I just love reading the fun, active, cute kids, marathon-runner mom's blog!
Slot canyons in July would be a death sentence. Come visit me in October, this is where the slot canyons are, baby! You guys will have fun. I'll miss the party, but alas, I'll be birthing a baby!
jori - i love ruths! and i love red rock, too. have you been to sugarhouse barbeque? that is a delicious bbq. and the dodo is my absolute favorite. heather and i are going to go there on Friday or Saturday, with Hopey. Dodo is at the gateway. mhmmmm.... (heather didn't know that, but she's knowing now! oh i'm so excited!)
I miss your Mom, think she's great. Glad she is okay! That is scary.
I'm glad "Miss Marlene" is ok. Waiting is so scary and such fodder for our imaginations. I like your thoughts about quick test results. If only. Tell your Mom hello and I hope y'all have a great visit!
tell momma to shut her yapper for a few minutes so you can post today :)
