The lazy days of summer...?

Who came up with the lazy days of summer anyway? They don't feel so lazy to me. Ha!! The kids are so used to going going going, I think they "think" they need to be doing something all the time. I told the kids from the beginning they had 2 hours per day of T.V., computer, video games. At first they thought I was the Grinch, but that's okay, they are used to it now. Good grief, it's not like I said NO T.V. I think they would spend half the day in front of the T.V. if I let them. Before work today, Scott made up a little "work out" program for Hunter and Hannah to do...in all I think it took them about 20 minutes to complete. Hunter was out running sprints between the light posts, push ups, and sit ups. Hannah had to do her skip-it for 10 minutes and then do 10 push ups and some sit ups. They each had to do leg lifts and stretches too. They had fun and wanted more. Crazy kids!

All my plans for the day got chunked...Hayden was sick last night. I took him to the doctor half-way hoping it was something that could be medicated. Well, let's face it, there was no half-way about it...give the kid some drugs! But no, it's just a virus. He's better already. It just is not a good weekend to be sick. We have a wedding to go to tonight, our old neighbors (the Reinkes) are in town, and we are getting our family picture taken tomorrow. No time for sickies.

Do you all know about the game Blockus? We got the game at Christmas time and it is way fun. It's the most fun with 4 people, but you can play with 2. The kids all like it and so do Scott and I. That has been a very summer friendly game! I have started putting together my list of places we need to hit this summer. I'm going to go check out what free movies are at the AMC this summer. Plus, I'll figure out the free days at the museums. All except the Children's Museum. I'll pay for that one, it gets too crowded on free day. I've always wanted to go berry picking at this place around here, I think I have about 1 more week before it's too late. And of course spending lots of time at Lifetime swimming and rock climbing. Hayden will be old enough this year to do it for real.

You have a fun list going. I wish I had an AMC, I would totally do the free movies this summer. And a museum would be nice. Alas, I live in podunk.

i've never played blokus...sounds fun! we love the free movies, too. i'm in charge of playgroup in our ward, so i just finished putting together the big list of summer activities. we're berry picking this week in marble falls (in the hill country) and seeing curious george at the free movies next week! looks like we're on the same wavelength! besides that we're doing several swim days at different pools, the bounce house place at the mall, children's museum, and some local austin events. fun stuff!

Heather I love your blog, thanks for telling me about it. Those pictures of Hope in the brown shirt and at the pool are so cute! I was so close to buying that swimsuit for Gracie. Well, y'all inspired me to start a blog, byujulia.blogspot.com. It needs work, but I'm sure that will come with time. :)

I love that your kids exercise. My kids do yoga with their daddy so cute! I'm impressed you actually can enforce the 2 hrs a day on TV Video Games etc....

Heather, I have the free movie list. It looks good. I can't remember what they are though (duh), but I picked it up at the movies last week and it is in the car. We will miss the first one, b/c we will be out of town. Will catch up though! How was the wedding?

The wedding was so nice, I have a couple questions for you (it was a Catholic wedding we attended last night). As the bride and groom were walking around the chapel (is that what you call it?) for the first time she passed right by me and I was crying. I couldn't help it, Hannah got a kick out of that. I thought the movie list looked good for the AMC this year. Rock on! Emily, my kids are much less impressed than you with the 2 hour limit! haha
