New Fun

I love little imaginations. Hannah has been playing library on and off for a few days now. This is her set up. We have all been issued library cards to "her" library. Do you see that book on the top row...third from the right? It's called Mandy by Julie Andrews Edwards. Yes, THE Julie Andrews. That was a favorite book of mine when I was a kid. She wrote another book called The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles that I loved too. As a child, I didn't know the author of those books was the Julie Andrews. Just a couple years ago, I wanted to read them aloud to my kids so...I started hunting down those books. When I realized who they were written by, I just about died. Hannah also has this check-out systems that cracks me up. Kids!
Hayden has been busy yesterday and then again this afternoon playing Noah's Ark. He got this Noah's Ark book at the library on Friday, and has now found a new love of his play animals. AND another use for his pirate ship (pictured in the back) I'm not sure if HE is Noah or that little guy at the bottom right of the picture. Too Funny!

dude, i think hannah and i are kindred spirits. i used to do that too! in fact, i noticed the "natalie mason" library notation in my betsy-tacy book today as i was reading it to maya. i had index cards as my check-out system. i think hannah and i would really get along!

I love it that Julie Andrews has Edwards tacked onto her name as the author. She's quite a woman, someone I have always admired and now even more as I watch how gracefully she has handled the loss of her singing voice. Yay for her for her books!

Nice to see a budding librarian! Julie Andrews was a speaker here at ALA - she is hawking her books, but hey it is cool. I, of course, did not get to see her. Oh well.

Hannah reminds me of another little girl that use to read and play by herself. Sometimes I would find you in the closet just talking away to your dolls and books. Hayden is also creative and enjoys those pirates and animals. It is a joy to give Hayden a toy because he loves it so much.
