I just finished
The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Wow, that was some book. It is set in a post-apocalyptic America and is a tale of a father and son's journey. There are some gruesome parts to the story, but also some tender moments between father and son. It reminded me of another book that I read not so very long ago called
Blindness by Jose Saramago. I'm going to go check out Oprah's website, since
The Road is one of her picks now. It's like having a little book club chat right there on the internet. Has anybody else read
The Road yet? I really enjoyed it and want to know what you think. Good discussion book!!!

Has anybody read
All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy? That looks good too.

sounds like a good book! you read lots of interesting books. i usually boycott oprah books, just because oprah bugs me, but with your recommendation i'll add it to my list. thanks!
I returned it to the library after only reading like 50 pages. i got a late start and it was due, they wouldn't let me renew it....then i ran into andrea and she said she didn't recommend finishing it, so i didn't stress about it and just returned it. i'm still looking forward to the discussion though!
Oh you should finish it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't let Andrea talk you out of it. I own it and you can borrow.
wasnt "All The Pretty Horses" a movie? like with penelope cruz and matt damon? I think it was a good movie. so the bok would probably be better. You know how that goes.
uh, yes, that would be "book", not "bok". doh.
i've got the road in my stack. i have so many good books right now, that i'm trying to get to. i need to spend my week reading, before you come. but i'll probably spend it blogging & cleaning & going to doctor's appointments! (ew)
all the pretty horses was a movie and it was decent. not one i'm going to worry about reading right now, unless i get hard up. :)
I have heard this is a good one too. I am on hold at the library, but have been for a good month. My library system is so very slow here.
I saw the movie "all the pretty horses" because matt damon was in it and I think it was pretty good. I can't really remember. I have to add "The Road" and "Blindness" to my list o' books to read.
I had to return it and they would not let me recheck it out. I need to get on the list again. The new Janet Evanovich book Mean Thirteen is out and I need to slip that in somehow when I get it. I know, that is a total nothing series but enjoyable.
