Meet my new Foodsaver

So for the past 5 years or so I have looked at these Foodsavers at Costco and Target. I've always thought they looked cool and would be quite handy. Part of my compulsive house organizing/cleaning/improvements....I cleaned out the freezer. There were things in there that were less than a month old and that already had freezer burn. So, yesterday at Costco I "treated" myself to a Foodsaver. I spent Hope's nap time vacuum sealing cheeses and meat. I even tried hot dog buns...but that didn't turn out so well. You see I was multi-tasking while I was doing it...I talked on the phone the whole time :).
The next thing on my list of to-do's...figure out how much food storage I have. More importantly, how much I don't have, and what I need to buy. I keep pushing that job off until later. As it is, I have to take Hope for her 9 month pictures. So, later, I'll do it later.

I think foodsavers are very smart. I'm glad your enjoying it...it may be a future purchase for us. (Also, can you please come organize my house because I don't know how/enjoy it? :)

This looks cool. You'll have to let us know how you like it after the food has been in the freezer for a while. I think I want one of them too.

that's cool. i need something like that. we end up throwing away more stuff than i'd like. it's annoying. and good for you on your food storage. i've got to get my butt in gear on that front.

Don't get too impressed yet Natalie, I haven't done anything with food storage yet. But it does need to be done. Holly posted something about food storage and a helpful link was trackmyfoodstorage.com, it looks pretty cool.

I know a couple of people that have those and love them. Did you know you can wash the bags and reuse them with a smaller piece. They do keep foods fresh for much longer. It is just like the original packaging from the store before you open the package and it goes bad fast.
