something new
I was just talking to my sister Heidi on the phone. She had just gotten back from snow shoeing. Boy did that sound fun. I love to climb up mountains. When we were there in the summer, we climbed up several. I've always said I'd rather go up than down. Meaning, I don't ever care to snow ski, really. The going down, out of control speed is not for me. But the climbing up and slowing coming back down sounds like fun. I wonder if I'll be able to do that in WA? I think I will. I'm excited to be outside more. Camping for one. I like being outside, just not here in the summer. The heat and humidity just make it not so fun. And you know what else, I told her I've always wanted to play the cello or violin. And I'm going to do it. I'm going to look into it when I move. I'm leaning more to the cello, it has such a rich sound. I don't know when I'll take lessons, but you better watch out, I'm going to do it!!!

You'll be close to Mt. Hood, some of the best of that stuff around!
I love your go get 'em attitude, Hetaher! You learn that cello, and you spank it's bottom! Washington will be a great place to embrace your inner outdoorsy-ness (that sounds weird). I do miss that about the West!
I'm thrilled to think you want to play the cello. When I come to visit you I hope we will still find some stores and not just do hiking. I'm laughing.
you rock my world, woman! i love your awesome attitude.
When you get to Washington, make sure and roll down the windows as you are driving. I'm sure your Houstonian children will say, Mom, Dad, what's that smell? And you will say . . .
That's fresh air sweetie . . .fresh air!
HA-HA!!!!!
That is my favorite story told to me by Scott Holyoak as we were leaving Texas.
i think you'll really love it up there. its got seasons & mild ones. i don't love the extremes, either. the cello will be fun for you! i've been wanting to try something new, too.
I can't wait to hear how the cello lessons go -- go get 'em! I love that.
It sounds like this is going to be such a good move for you. I am excited to hear more about your lessons. I want to start up piano again. I haven't taken in years.
oh boy. good luck with the cello. I stunk it up on the violing in college. Hopefully you'll have better luck. Those strings are TUFF. I'm with you on the hiking. I'd LOOOOVE to be there.
I couldn't figure out the difference between the roul-pat and the sil-pat either. They are definitely from the same company. I think the roul-pat is specifically made for rolling dough because it is way too large for a cookie sheet (where you would use the sil-pat). I did see some other options for this on the sur la table website (ones I didn't see at the store) and that were more reasonably priced. I normally just roll on the counter, but because granite is pourous it doesn't seem like a great place...plus I was afraid it was gooping up the granite and might make it look cloudy, etc. Which is a very roundabout way of explaining why I spent way too much money on the roul-pat.
