So, I love the view from my kitchen window. It's love-r-ly. I did not want to cover these windows because I LOVED the light and the view, blah blah blah. Until today. At about 5 o'clock to be specific. It got really bright (and hot) standing there at my love-r-ly kitchen window with the sun beating in-it was hot today...90*. I guess I'll have to cover them after all. It really is too bad, because it's just from about 5-8ish (and only when it's hot and sunny) that the sun is a problem. But I felt like I needed to wear my new sun hat while making dinner. It got so hot and beaming tonight at dinner, my wonderful husband worked some MacGyver magic...and came up with this. Oh yeah. :)

We have windows like that too -- and i resisted covering them until about 2 months ago when I finally gave in. It just got to be too much. But I just got blind so I can keep them open most of the time.
Very classy! We used to put cardboard in the kids' windows in the summer to block out the sunlight so they could sleep at night!
That is a beautiful view. I wouldn't want to cover it either. I finally have a window over my sink (I never had that before) and it has plantation shutters and I like that I can see right through them when their nice and open, but the totally shut out the light when closed. Or what about a rolled shade? That way when its up, you don't even see it?
that's TOO funny! if you your name was cottam, you'd just leave it like that forever. that's what we do.
I am so happy you have a sun hat!:) Great cardboard sun blocker too.
That is too funny!
You are my kind of girl! I love the MacGyver method of home decorating or home repair for that matter. Hope you find something you love for keeping out the sun that still lets in the view when you want the view!
That is class - all the way.
Hey, you people up in the NW aren't used to that kind of heat. I am surprised you didn't all melt!
Beautiful view...but it's the fantastic window treatments that have me jealous!
