The saga of the cake

Ahhhh, dang it! So, it's been a really long time since I've ordered a cake from anywhere EXCEPT Costco, Walmart, or Kroger. Mostly Costco, I genuinely like their cake. Plus, at $15 for a full sheet, it's a bargain. BUT, there is this one lady I'm friends with. Her name is Noelle. She has kids the same age and sex as my 3 older kids. Every time she has a birthday party, she has cake from this one place. RJ Goodies. Okay, now this cake is so good...my eyes roll back in my head when I eat a bite. It's not just good, it's to die for good. Usually, I forget about this place, until I'm back at Noelle's house eating this cake, thinking...why the heck do I not get cake from this place?? So, today I'm thinking about heading on over to Costco to order up cake for this weekend. Hope's birthday is the 19th and mine is the 20th. But anyway, it's plenty early...I don't need it until SATURDAY :). Then I stop and say "NO, I want RJ Goodies cake!!" I'm thinking, if we are sharing cakes from here on out, boy we are going to be getting one heck of a good cake! I can't actually remember what this place is called, I was thinking RJ Willey's RC Willey's, but I knew that was a furniture place in Utah. Dang. So, I even call my friend Kerrie. Where is that place Noelle always gets her cakes??? I finally call.

I tell the lady I'm looking for a cake to be ready on Saturday. "Which Saturday Ma'am?" Uh oh. "Well, the 20th..." "Oh, I'm sorry you have to call at LEAST a full week in advance." Oh man. Now I'm really sad, but I'm still thinking how can I make this work? She said there were some cakes that I could buy today, generic ones I guess, maybe ones people didn't pick up. She says even those won't be left by Friday. But do I really want a stale Spiderman cake today, that I won't eat until Saturday. No. I hang up, only to call back about 10 minutes later. I'm one tracking. "Hello it's me again, I just called about getting a cake by Saturday. How about just a plain cake?" I'm thinking my Mom could write Hope's name on it. "No Ma'am,that won't work." She got a little attitude with me. Forget it! No RJ Goodies for me, this year! If only I had remembered a week ago.

I can attest to those cakes. We got one for Emmett's first birthday and they were really nice and made him a little personal one to tear into all by himself. And it had a dump truck filled with m$ms! I'm with Hayley, get one for a few days from now. They are spectacular! Happy birthday Hope! (And Heather!)

Wow- now I have to try that cake. Not this time because I leave on Sunday. She must have quite the little business going. Sounds like a pie place I know in St. George. If you miss the cake Holly is getting pies that are to die for when you are there.

As a cake connoisseur I can say, that cake is worth the wait. I always forget as well. Costco is a good stand in, but not the same.

Happy Birthday!
