a light bulb moment
I've meant to blog about this, but well, I just haven't. Somebody gave a talk on it a few weeks ago. When I heard it, it was a light bulb moment, but I've kind of forgotten about it. Until yesterday, when I was getting a little frustrated, and it came flooding back. So, anyway the thing is this...you know how you pray for stuff? Okay, so I pray all the time to be nicer to my kids and have more patience. I'll admit it here and now, I'm not perfect in that department :) So, what I learned is that, Heavenly Father isn't going to bless you *bing* with more patience...he will give you many many opportunities to BE patient. Duh, no wonder "it" wasn't working. So all along, I've been praying to be more patient and I keep feeling like "it's not working". BUT that's not how it's supposed to work. Heavenly Father has blessed me with more opportunities to practice being patient. So, I don't know...maybe watch what you pray for, you'll be getting lots of practice on it :)!!

That's so true Heather. Prayers definitely aren't always answered the way we expect them to be.I think it says alot that you are praying to be nicer and more patient with your kids. I'm impatient too. I have to remind myself "Kaitlin's 4 you're 34" It's so hard to be the grown up sometimes.
so true. but sometimes i hate that. i'm not going to lie - sometimes, i don't want to pray about something, cause i know that it'll give me more struggles, etc. thanks for sharing & reminding though, heathe!
It is so true. I keep telling the Primary kids that prayers are always answered, but not very often do the answers come in the way we WANT. They come in the way that is best for us -- and you hit this one on the nose. Lots of opportunities for patience for you, for sure.
You hit the nail on the head. I love it when a talk, lesson, book, article speaks to me. You also receive many reminders you are on the right track.
that IS a lightbulb moment! and you really do have to watch what you pray for, man, for sure. but i do love praying and saying "bless me with more patient" when what i really mean is "i want to learn patience and i want to learn it NOW!!!"
Love this "Lightbulb moment", so true!
