Doesn't it stink getting old"er"? Older not old, shoot, I'm only going to be 35 this October. I first starting thinking this morning, as I happily sat checking emails...when all of a sudden..."Scout was that you?" (Scout is our 12 1/2 year old Golden Retriever) There he lay, sound asleep farting. Yuck. He got a nudge, and I sent him packing... outside, to take care of some business whether he needed to or not.
Then, I thought it again as I got on the treadmill to start running. (the getting getting old"er" part) You see, I haven't run since my hill training on Saturday. 3 days off from running, I wanted to run yesterday, but I didn't. I did a machine instead. The problem, you see, is an old injury. Last Tuesday, I got all crazy and fancy in a class and my Achilles tendon started to hurt a bit after class. No big deal, the pain went away. But then I ran the next day, I "felt it" at first, but nothing terrible...and let's face it, when do you run and you don't "feel"..."something". I did a spinning class Friday, no pain at all. But on Saturday, here is where I made my mistake...my ankle/Achilles didn't feel right from the word go. But, I thought, let's just let it warm up. It warmed up and all was good. But I did a hill workout, dumb me. It was feeling so good, I ran about 7 miles. But it didn't feel good later on in the day. CRAP, I did it again. (old Achilles injury- when I was training for the last marathon I did...I ended up having to take a month off running, just so I could run, miserable. It was in Austin too with all those hills :) So, I thought I'd be generous and not run on it for 3 WHOLE days. Wow, right? Yeah no. I tried again today, just to check, and it hurt. I'm going to try and be smart this time around. Maybe if I take it easy, I won't be hobbling along in a month or so, asking "WHY???"
Oh the joys, just when I was getting my groove back too. Oh well, I hit Costco for a little shopping therapy after, and even despite my strong stink (remember hard workout) found a new treasure. The fine people at Cinnabon have put out a cinnamon bread that is Yum-mmeee. Oh yeah, and the "estimator" just call, he is in route. What timing!
**update-the estimator guy left, and it's sinking in what a pain in the butt it's going to be to get all new carpet. It's like we're going to be moving! I will be thinking very positively though. Think of all the crap I'll be able to get rid of, no??

yeah, let me know when you're having a big ol' yardsale and i'll drive down and load up! :) i can imagine getting new carpet while you live there would be the WORST! sorry about your injury. see, one of the perks of laziness is that we have no injuries! (unless you consider cellulite an injury.) :)
oh man - i'm really excited about the cinnabread! that stuff is heaven! mhmmmm
also - sorry about your injury too... like i always say - you don't get hurt if you just plant it on the couch :)
When we got new carpet I said to myself we will move before I do this again. I wish I could tell you it was easy but it is not. You have to move everything to the tile or outside. Fun and games. Take it easy on your ankle. Having knee problems is not fun.
I was in Costco today and missed the bread. Dang it....
This sounds like a trip to Costco is necessary. And, I've never replaced carpet, but I have redone the kitchen. Just that is a pain!! Good luck.
Do they not move most of the stuff for you? Am I crazy to even ask that? My neighbors had new carpet installed and they just had to unplug the tvs and stuff. All the big stuff was moved for them. Just think how great it will be to walk on nice new fuzzy clean carpet!
Heather, I SO wish I were tough like you. I need to get serious about exercise. I ride my exercise bike and do some leisurely swimming. I am so whimpy about heat. I can't stand to be out in it. As soon as it cools down I want to walk more. Sorry about your injury, I hate it when you can't do what you want to do. Good luck with moving things around. You will be so happy once everything is back in place and you have dejunked.
Sorry about your injury, but holy crap you put me to shame on all the exercising. Hope it get's better soon.
Oooh, cinnabread! That's what I'm talking about! Heather, that sucks about your injury--I hope it doesn't get worse and only gets better. :( I hate injuries, especially when you're training for a race. Man, you have a good attitude about your carpet! I
m sure it will look fabulous!
Not good on injury. Does it hurt when you do other stuff, or just run? Maybe hills were not a good idea......
I'm right there with Scout - talk to me about getting oldER in 25 years, maybe that will be an H-mail, get it?
Tell Hunter I'm still waiting for my poem.
That's the yukky reality of getting older -- old injuries never really go away. I have several and they flare up quite regularly and I hate it. On the bright side -- yay for the new carpet and the cleaning-out that will have to take place.
