Just for the record, I didn't watch American Idol last night. I watched the news and Grey's instead. I hadn't gotten enough of the Obama fest, so I tuned in.
So there is this kid (he is Asian) in Hunter's class, and whenever he doesn't understand something in class (which seems to be quite frequently) he yells out really loud "Whaaaaat!?!" It's gotten to the point that even the teachers giggle when he does it, I think they have tried talking to the kid (according to Hunter) about other ways to ask questions but it's not helping. Hunter is a funny kid. He will throw that "Whaaaat!?!" out there at exactly the right moment. He does another impression of some kid, I won't' name names...just in case...but every time he does the impression I get to laughing so hard I almost cry.
But the real reason for Whaaaat is I found myself saying it this morning as I turned on the news. They were reporting about Timothy Geithner, the dude that has been nominated as the Treasury Secretary. Have you heard of him perhaps? The dude that a few years ago...didn't pay some $34,000 in taxes...the Treasury Secretary...doesn't that have something to do with the IRS? Isn't that a big Whaaaat! to you too? Either this guy is dumb, he said he used Turbo Tax and it was an honest mistake...(although Scott and I use Turbo Tax too and seem to do just fine) or he is dishonest. Which is it? Now, I only spent about 10 minutes watching the news this morning, I haven't studied the issue out, but it just seems to me there should/would/could be a better pick. I'm sure the guy is smart, but still, come on. There's gotta be somebody out there that can do just as good of a job as the Treasury Secretary that wasn't behind/didn't pay taxes from 2001-2004. I'm just saying.

I heard he paid it back as soon as he found the mistake. It does make me laugh to think $34,000 was like forgetting to pay your light bill. Ha
From what I heard he had been sent "reminder notices" all along...how do you keep forgetting for 3 years? And I wonder if he will have to pay hefty late fees like anybody else would.
Hey, you can put me up on your roll.
Also, apparently the guy was out of the country and the company he was working for didn't take out social security and the other payroll taxes. It makes a little sense, but I felt the same way too.
sorry. no excuse is valid if you want to hold a CABINET POSITION IN THE US GOVERNMENT. i don't care about his lame excuses. we need an HONEST person in there. there are some other great options.
