The last two weeks I have had an obnoxious amount of garbage out at the curb on garbage day. I'm feeling a little bad. I got rid of a baby bath tub, an infant car seat and a microwave that was missing the glass plate inside. The microwave has been with us since we got married, lost in our attic in Texas. I dumped it. I should have taken it to a special recycling spot, and I feel a little guilty. I have been a very good recycler though too. I smoothed out and recycled MOST not all of the packing paper that was used. Talk about a lot of paper. But I am loving the whole recycling thing. I had all three of my bins full last week and then this week too. And I'm filling up my little composter bin again, too. I can't believe all the food scraps. I am composting napkins and paper towel now too. I'll let you know how that goes :) I know, I know stay tuned haha.

Now that I'm on the whole "green" thing now, I want to tell you about this great book I'm reading. Gorgeously Green by Sophie Uliano. Sophie was on Oprah the other week (along with Julia Roberts, you might have seen it). I like this book, because it's all about some little things we can all do, now. Without being too granola or eco-nerdish. Check it out at the library, OR buy it at Target for under $14. Oh, and I haven't been to the DMV yet, I want to get new plates for my car too, but I need paper work on our cars to do that. Guess where that paper work is...in the garage!! SCOTT where are you??

and - i saw that oprah last week with julia roberts. good stuff.
That is a major achievement to have all those boxes in the garage gone. Wow, I am impressed.
You have totally been busy -- amazing! Yay for you! How great to be feeling settled.
The garage is ALWAYS the last to get done. Because it isn't the woman's domain!
man girl, you are a work horse!!! nice work, getting all settled. i want to come over and check out the crib when we come to oregon!
PS, I finally watched that Opie. I thought it was a good one. And that book looks like a must read. I felt pretty good after watching it, I am doing a lot of those things already. Not composting, but most everything else. Kevin watched it with me and thinks we might give composting a whirl. I should have looked at yours while I was there!
Yeah, I tried to save paper, and after about 10 boxes worth, I was so done with that. YOu are a better woman than me. I like the idea of composting though. Are you using that thingy you got at Costco? I didn't see the Oprah since I have all but deleted her from my TiVo. Seeing as I'm pretty convinced that if she's not the actual anti-Christ, she is a willing pawn of...just kidding...sort of.
No, really, I'm kidding!!!
I really need to get on the composting ball... along with about a million others. You have been such a busy lady! You deserve a night (or two) off for all this hard work.
I'm happy to say that I finally purchased 6 re-usable grocery bags, although I completely forgot to bring them in the store today. Duh!!! It will take a little bit to make a habit I suppose. Thanks for the book info.
Saw that Oprah, made me think twice about how wasteful we are, we are good at recycling but could always do more!
That is so great you are almost done. Of course we need to see pics of the house! :)
