Consumer Report maniac

I have been reading Consumer Reports online for the last 24 hours like a maniac. It is so interesting! I must be a nerd, because I am an expert now on so many things haha.

Here are some of my findings...The Kirkland HE laundry detergent (that I already buy) was rated the "best buy" detergent. It scored a 82/100. Gain HE scored a 86/100. The Tide Free HE scored 85/100 and Cheer HE also did good by scoring a 82/100. The thing about the Kirkland brand was that it scored good and it cost only 12 cents a load compared to 20+ cents/load. Good deals.

Diapers...here is the scoop on the poop. They tested for leakage and design. #1 Pampers Cruisers 96/100, monthly cost $37, #2 Pampers 88/100, mc $29, #3 Huggies Supreme 79/100, mc $35, #4 Kirkland 73/100, mc $29, #5 White Cloud 64/100, mc $29, #6 Huggies 48/100, mc $34, #7 Luvs 37/100, mc $26. The Kirkland brand has recently been re-designed and those haven't been tested. I just might switch to Pampers, the Huggies have been leaking lately (like every time Hope poops). I'm just so brand loyal, I don't know why...but I am.

The reason I have been looking in Consumer Reports, is that we are getting a new dishwasher and fridge. We actually got the dishwasher last night...Scott is hoping he can install :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but not holding my breath.

Sunday and Monday Hannah had a fever, complaints of headache/stomach ache and her throat hurt. I looked in her throat yesterday afternoon and sure enough white spots. I made the appointment and took her this morning. Negative on the strep culture. Hmmmm. The doctor did a mono test too...negative. Of course she felt "just fine" this morning. At least the doctor saw the pockets of puss too so I'm not a crazy women. Just a little virus.

I was doing laundry this afternoon, and I ran to get another load from the dryer, and I came back and found this. Compliments of Hayden!

Pussy pockets. Of all the wonderful things you posted about, that stands out the most in my mind. Mostly because I read it the "other" way at first and was shocked. Then I realized what you meant. Glad you got the dishwasher. Get a plumber to install!! You are smart to do research. I just bought what I liked and/or was on sale!

Hard to believe that Hannah was negative for streh throat. Glad you took care of that before your vacation. I love Hayden's cute ideas. Hope seems to enjoy her cage. Cute, Cute, Cute.....

I LOVE that picture of Hope! IHow cute is she! Thanks for the Consumer Reports info-that's insteresting and good to know. I am going to go ahead and add "pussy pockets" to "phrases I dislike." :) That little ditty caught me quite off guard! :) Glad she's feeling better.

hooray, i'm doing good on my buys without doing the research! :)that's probably a first. LOVE the kirklands detergent. also, i am such a pampers brand loyalist. everything else leaks or gives my kids diaper rash. heather, check out cruisers. i've had almost no leaky diapers ever with those, and i've done pampers exclusively for both my kids. pampers swaddlers are my absolute favorites. i'm always so sad when my babies get past size 2 and we have to switch to cruisers (although they rock, too). the only problem with pampers is they don't sell them at costco. they do at sam's, though, if you're a member of both. otherwise, walmart or target usually have decent prices on them. love the pictures of hope. what a little dolly.

Does Hannah have allergies? I know that can cause white pockets... Thanks for the advice! I'm researching crate training now! :)

Okay, so maybe that's not the way you spell pussy, but if not, how? Hmmmm I don't know. I'll change the post up a bit :) I love the Pampers cruisers too for when the new baby has the cord issues, but then I have gone back to Huggies, that might just change.

i'll add my two cents and total vote for pampers. i love them. we did the swaddlers/cruisers and then now that she's eating solids we're in to the pampers baby dry. good to know about the kirkland detergent!

I'm a Kirkland detergent user from way back -- love the stuff. Also I second all the positive opinions on the Pampers -- love those swaddlers then cruisers. You ought to check them out.

I just switched to Method for detergent. So far, I like it just fine. More expensive, but supposedly good for the environment. We'll see how long it lasts. And, I forgot to mention earlier how much I love the pictures of Hope. Especially the one she is smiling at the camera. So cute.
